Platelets are just as critical, yet far fewer people are able or willing to donate them. That gap is why Push for Platelets exists.
One reason the need is so urgent is time. — a platelet donation typically has a shelf life of only five days, which means hospitals depend on a steady, ongoing supply. As demand continues to grow, shortages can happen quickly.
How the Program Works
Platelet Donors
If you donate platelets — even once — you may receive a Free Push for Platelets Shirt as a small thank-you for stepping into a critical need.
You only pay a flat $5 shipping fee.
There are no minimums, no ongoing commitments, and no requirements beyond your donation. This is simply our way of saying thank you.
Blood Donors
Blood donors save lives every day, and we are deeply grateful for each one.
We’re currently working on a small thank-you for blood donors, such as a Lainee’s Love sticker — a simple way to recognize the lifesaving impact of blood donation.

Why We Do It
Push for Platelets exists because this mission is deeply personal.
In 2022, Lainee faced a courageous 41-day battle with stage 4 lung cancer. During that time, she received multiple lifesaving transfusions — whole blood and platelets — each playing a vital role in giving us precious extra time together.
Those donations, given by strangers she would never meet — people who showed up, people who said YES — gave me precious extra days and extra hours with her, time I will cherish for the rest of my life..

Both mattered. Both were miracles.
As grateful as we are for blood donors — and we truly are — Lainee’s journey revealed something many people never see: platelets are often in critically short supply. Far fewer people are able or willing to donate them, and because platelets typically have a shelf life of only about five days, hospitals must rely on a constant, ongoing flow of donors.
That reality is why Push for Platelets exists.
Not because blood donation is less important — but because platelet donation is less common, time-sensitive, and urgently needed.
This program is our way of honoring Lainee, honoring every donor, and helping ensure that when someone else is fighting for more time, the lifesaving gifts they need are there.
